Aphasia is a communication impairment affecting the production or comprehension of speech and the ability to read or write. Aphasia is the result of an injury to the brain, most commonly from a stroke or head injury. The Aphasia Support Group seeks to provide support for those living with aphasia and their family members. The purpose of the meetings is to increase communication confidence through interaction with others, use of communication strategies, communication exercises, and includes education on living with aphasia. The group is developed and maintained by speech therapists.
